Bedding Basics Make Your Bed More Comfortable And Luxurious

A complete bedding set consists of many things. It requires the assemblage of many different bedding ensembles to make a complete bedding set. Suppose you have a comforter which is very comfortable but when you place a bed skirt in between the comforter and the box spring then it makes your comforter even more comfortable to sleep on. It also enhances the look of your bedding set. It gives a stylish appearance to the comforter without exposing the spring. Similarly the other bedding accessories also increase the comfort level of your bedding set and embellish the look of your bedroom.

The bedding accessories, which are also referred to as bedding basics, are paired up with the bed so that it becomes more luxurious and substantial. The luxury bedding accessories mainly consist of pillows, pillowcases, down alternative comforters and bed skirts. These accessories come in variety of colors, designs, fabrics and sizes and therefore you can choose from a wide range of collections. Each and every bedding accessory has its own specialty and gives a different lush and appearance to your bedding set. The pillows are especially meant for supporting the head. Mostly the pillows are filled with downs and hence they are very soft. They add an incredible luxury and give you a sound sleep. There is no doubt in it that the pillows are very comfortable but when it comes to style then even they require add ons. The add ons for the pillows are the pillowcases. The pillowcases are made up of Egyptian cotton and they have high thread count. They are available in plenty of rich colors and when you put them on your pillows then they are a real pleasure for your eyes.

The bed skirts are specifically meant to enhance the ambiance of the room and they indeed give a grand look to your bedroom. These stylish bedding accessories are also available in plenty of designs and style. But if you want a unique and pompous look for your bedroom decorations then go for the sateen pleated ones. Curtain Choosing Basics For Your Living Room

While choosing drapes for your living room, there is a thought process that is essential before you head for the market. Keeping these basics in mind will ensure you get a fantastic looking living room without having to spend the earth.

Basic Color Scheme

Keep the basic color scheme of your living room in mind before everything else.

Do you have sober colors or bright ones?

Does your living room have shades of a single color family, or do you prefer contrasts in each item that you place?

In case of a single family of colors, it would be prudent that your window drapes also reflect the same standard. Accordingly, you could go for a different shade of green, blue or whatever the color that you have used in the rest of the decor.

Contrasting colors are a different ball game. Keep in mind that contrasting colors look best in case of larger rooms as they tend to make the room look smaller than it actually is.

Going for combinations like white and black, green and yellow, off white and gray, and so on will give a very different and vibrant life to your room settings.

Fabric

Fabric available for window decor in case of living rooms comes in an extremely large variety of tapestries, colors and prints. You can be well excused for getting confused when it comes to choosing the right fabric for your living room drapes.

Naturally, there is a huge cost variation as well, depending on where in the spectrum your choice lies.

In general your drapes fabric should match that of the other upholstery in the room.

You can choose rich fabrics such as velvet and silk, or combination fabrics that are rich as well as elegant.

In case you desire more staid surroundings, cotton fabrics for window drapes and curtains come in a large variety of colors and designs.

My personal favorite is the middle of the road option offered by silk sari curtains. These are silk curtains that were basically designed as Saris, the traditional six yard dress of Indian women. These traditionally woven have been beautifully modified to fit in as excellent silk curtains and drapes. They offer the best of both worlds - the elegance and the richness of silk at rates that are nowhere near the high end cost of silk upholstery.

Design

As a rule of the thumb your curtains should complement your furniture. In case of plain furniture, you could go for printed curtains. The size of the print can be large in case you want to make a bold style statement. You can even go for bold colored, contrast prints such as those of flowers etc to brighten up the room.

If subtle elegance is your style, then go for smaller prints that mesh with the fabric. By small I mean a couple of inches in size on the outside. You could even go for designs that are woven into the cloth as compared to simple printing, as these have a longer life.

Enjoy your living room decoration!

Home Decor Basics

We all want a home we can be proud of. Be it a tiny little spot on the earth or a grand, sprawling estate, home is always where the heart is, as they say. It is where we normally start and end each of our days, and it is often witness to many special moments that happen to us in our lives - birthday celebrations, family bonding moments, a home-made candlelit dinner on Valentine's day, and many others. All of these are the reasons why it will always matter to us how our homes look.
Most of us wish we had the time or the resources to renovate this place from time to time, so it remains appealing, not only to us but to our guests as well. If you are actually planning to renovate your home, but are unsure how to even start, the following tips should be helpful:
Size
Sometimes, furniture can look fantastic on a virtual or physical showroom and turn out awkward in your home. And the most common culprit for this is inappropriate size. There are pieces of furniture meant for wide-extending rooms while there are those that are just perfect for small, cozy ones. In other words, size is be a consideration that works so much more than having you make sure the furniture fits through your door. A small living room, for example, could look downright ridiculous with a grand Italian living room set. In fact, the problem can be more than aesthetics. When you have a small room with oversized furniture, you'll have a problem moving around in your own home - not a very comfortable idea.
Color
Whether we like it or not, the colors we choose for our walls and furniture will affect the total appeal of our home. It doesn't matter what specific room we're talking about. Fact is, a good color combination almost always does the the trick while a bad one can actually ruin the whole point of renovation or redecoration, no matter how expensive each piece of furniture is. If you're one of those people who just can't pick the right color combinations unless they see them on an actual interior design, don't panic. With the countless resources for home design these days, this is rarely a problem. Check out an interior design magazine online or offline and pick out a design with a color combination you like. Then, you can mimic that same effect by choosing the same colors for your own home.
Texture
If colors set the general feel around your home, texture deepens that feel so you tend to be involved more deeply into your design. Texture adds character to a room and allows one to actually feel the "rhythm" of the design and not just appreciate it through one's eyes. Texture can be created in many ways and, again, it is best to check out home interior design magazines, whether online or offline, for some great ideas on how to add nice texture to your home.
Theme
If you are fascinated by the thought of having your interior design follow a theme, then go ahead and follow one. But make sure you do it through and through. For example, if you've decided to have a Victorian theme in your living room, do not incorporate any of those modern, minimalist-inspired furniture into your design because this can create a contrast that may be very hard to manage, unless you are an expert designer. If you must go Victorian, make sure the whole room is pulled together by your chosen theme and doesn't come apart with out-of-place pieces.
